As part of our on going commitment to improving plant machinery at Mackoy, as well as health and safety standards on our sites, we’ve recently updated our dumper fleet with two brand new compact Hydema 912F articulated trucks. The first two have arrived already and more are due later in 2018.
These compact dumper trucks have a great reputation in the industry. Being favoured not only for their robustness but also their handling capabilities. But, crucially, the 912F model also has a fully enclosed cab. Which is something the industry is championing following a spate of open-cab dumper truck fatalities across construction sites in the UK last year.
Health and Safety of our groundworkers is something we don’t take any risks with at Mackoy. It’s the reason our SHEQ team are on site weekly to oversee conditions and ensure the quality standards we put in our Good Practice Guide are met. And our investment into these new closed cab Hydrema dumpers is just one of the ways we’re constantly reviewing our on site practices.
The 912F dumper truck model was launched way back in 1983. And the fact it’s still used in construction sites the world over to this day just goes to show what a great bit of kit it is. In fact, dumper trucks are a core part of our groundworks toolkit at Mackoy. So we haven’t wasted any time getting these new additions to our fleet out in the field.
Among other capabilities our new Hydrema dumpers allow for more precise dumping and 180-degree unloading whilst driving forward. Helping to add efficiency to our groundworks infrastructure workflow.
The cab itself has three points of entry and exit, as well as LED lighting on the rear, and a laminated windscreen. Each one meets both ROPS and FOPS requirements, and also boasts the following operational safety features:
As with all our Mackoy plant machinery our new Hydrema’s are Mackoy branded with a smart custom wrap. So there’s no mistaking us when we’re on site to do a job.
And it’s not just our plant kit we invest in at Mackoy, but our people too. We only take on the best operatives to work on our clients’ builds. And our dumper truck drivers are no exception. So as well a valid CSCS card, and UK HGV (C1 Licence), every dumper driver we hire at Mackoy also undergoes an induction, and in-house training. To ensure they’re fully proficient in the handling of the machine, and also our on site safety practices.
