In May we announced a new photography competition for Mackoy employees, rewarding £100 each month for the best picture that captures quality workmanship on our client’s builds. And we’ve had a flurry of entries from groundworkers across each of the catchments we operate in. So thanks to everyone who took the time to take a picture and email it through. It’s been great to receive such a positive response and we’re glad you guys enjoy initiatives such as these.
As our groundworks and civil engineering team know all too well, quality control is something we don’t compromise on at Mackoy. So it’s a real pleasure to see so many shining examples of great work, completed to the high standards we expect, coming through. Because while our SHEQ duo (David and Mathew) and our leadership team are regularly on site to inspect progress, so much changes on the ground day to day. And we look forward to receiving even more images of our live builds progressing in the weeks and months to come.
As for June’s winner of the £100 quality photo prize however, well, we couldn’t narrow it down to just one picture alone. So, we’ve gone with three entries instead. All of which capture unique areas of our groundworks services delivered at different stages of development.
Winner 1 is a picture taken of a temp haul road we laid for the Ferndown 278. This road has received a lot of praise, and as you can see from the photograph it’s been finished to a really high standard, with all the proper road markings in place and a great smooth surface to drive on. You might also notice a Mackoy logo sneaking into view on one of our work vans too. But we assure you that didn’t sway our judges’ decision in any way.
Our second Quality Photo prize-winner is Nick Finn, who captured this shot of a completed plot with a Mackoy van sitting proudly in the foreground.
While third prize goes out to Paul Weaving for a fantastic shot of internal drainage works on the Barratt David Wilson development in Whitchurch. Paul incidentally also won our Site Manager of The Month Award for the same build. So a double congrats to Paul for both achievements during June.
We’re currently in the process of updating our Mackoy Good Practice Guide. And Paul’s drainage shot is one of the few we’ve shortlisted for inclusion as a prime example of how things should be done. We’ve been producing our Good Practice Guide for some years now, constantly reviewing the information contained as we grow as a business, and as legislation changes.
The latest guides will have a fresh new look, with crease and water resistant paper, and a nice Mackoy wrap in our brand colours. While inside, all of the processes and health & safety procedures have been revised in line with current industry standards. So make sure you familiarise yourself with these when they arrive on site soon.
The quality of our work and the safety of our team on site are just two of the ways we strive to improve standards in construction at Mackoy groundworks and civil engineering. We’re currently engaged on builds for new homes in Bracknell, Whitchurch and Romsey, among other multi-million pound housing contracts. But our 300 strong crew work throughout the South of England. From Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire to Berkshire and Dorset.
So if you have a project that requires quality manpower and hi-spec plant drop us a line through our Contact Page today. Or for more information about Mackoy Ltd, and our past and present clients, take a look at our News feed for our latest contract announcements.
