May’s Mackoy Quality Competition Winners

12 August 2018

This year Mackoy groundworks & civil engineering celebrated its 7th year in industry. And while a lot has changed since business began way back in 2011 one thing’s remained ever constant: our commitment to quality.

Quality workmanship is something we pride ourselves on at Mackoy. In fact it’s the driving force behind everything we bring to the table. From our in-house Good Practice Guide to our year-on-year investment into new plant and machinery. We’re always striving to have the best and be the best. All of which adds up to us providing a quality groundworks service to our clients.

Celebrating quality within Mackoy

We’re proud to have operatives within our team who share our passion for producing quality work. And although we regularly visit our worksites and client builds to see our Mackoy groundworkers in action we think their work is deserving of a wider audience.

So we set up an internal employee photo competition encouraging our operatives to email in pictures that showcase their skills and handiwork on the job. With a £100 prize available each month as a reward for the winning image (a box of Quality Street would have made a fitting prize) but we thought cash was just a little sweeter.

May’s winnings photos

We’ve been sitting on May’s winning images for a little while now. And while the winners have received their respective £100 prizes (it was too hard to narrow it down to just one winning shot) we still wanted to share their good work during May none the less.

So, taking it from the top at the top …

Mackoy Groundworks and Civil Engineering Operatives Measuring on Site

Paul Weaving, who captured this shot of a pump station on site for Barratt David Wilson in Whitchurch, sent in our first winning image for May. Paul’s actually our site manager for the project, and his image (an action shot if you will) perfectly captures what life is like for our groundworkers on a development – namely knee deep in earth. But in all seriousness Paul’s photo shows a great safety system in place (tick) and some nice Mackoy Livery Plant in the background to cap it off.

Our second winning image was taken in Ferndown, Dorset, where we’ve been busy finalising a £5 million groundworks contracts for Bellway to deliver infrastructure for 148 residential units. Mackoy operative Nick Finn captured this landscape shot of CML completions at the site, so thank you and well done Nick for a great entry.

Which brings us to our third and final winner for May, Graham Curtis, who snapped this impressive panoramic image on site for Wyatt Homes in Upton. We’ve now completed our £2.4 million groundworks contract there, and Graham’s shot shows the last of the completed plots. So in some ways it’s a little bittersweet. But it’s great to see the project reach completion, and get a first look at the new high-spec homes Wyatt have built.

Congratulations again to all three of our Quality Photo winners in May and we hope you enjoyed spending your £100 prize. We’ll be back with an update on our June and July winners very soon. But, in the meantime, if you’re a groundworker on one of our builds keep sending in your entries to quality@mackoy.co.uk. It’s great seeing so many shining examples of the quality work being produced by our groundworks team day by day.
