04 September 2018
Following on from an exceptionally busy June we shot straight into a similarly hectic July at Mackoy. With the heat being turned up on our operatives (quite literally and metaphorically) in more ways than one.
Not only did our groundworkers have to contend with rising temperatures on our worksites as the Mercury crept into the thirties. But with three major builds gathering pace, along with offsite 278 works and client year-ends, the whole team were kept very much on their toes during July’s extreme sunny spell.
So, while everyone gets a big thumbs up from the boss for keeping business ticking over as usual, extra special mention goes out to our Site and Site Managers of the month for July. Who really had to step up in the face of mounting heat to deliver the goods. And deliver them they did.
With that in mind, it probably won’t surprise anyone to learn that Ferndown has snatched site of The Month for July 2018. This is a 278 contract for Mackoy and it hasn’t come without its challenges. Firstly on the part of the local council who had some preliminary concerns regarding the works. But these were followed by doubts from Bellway about whether the size and scope of the scheme could be completed in time.
Our Mackoy Site Manager on the ground Geordie (aka Graham Curtis) did a sterling job at keeping everyone updated with progress as the works got started. Which included a period of night working, all of which we’re happy to report were executed 100% smoothly from start to finish.
In fact, when we recently met with Bellway they were positively full of praise about our work and our team (feedback we’ll never tire of hearing). With the Ferndown scheme specifically singled out. Plus (and this really is the icing on the cake) we even received emails of thanks from the local city council in this case too (which really is a turn up for the books let us tell you).
So needless to say a VERY good job by Graham with assistance from Mike Beare too. A well deserved £250 pounds each is on its way to you both.
Which brings us nicely onto Site Manager of The Month, and our July 2018 winner Nick Finn. Nick notched up the highest improvement score of any Mackoy Site Manager since we began these awards. Totalling a record 19 points over a 4-month period. An incredible achievement by anyone’s standards, and one that secured Nick his Site Manager Award victory.
We paid in Nick’s £500 prize ahead of telling him he’d won, which duly prompted him to call and tell us we’d made a payroll error and overpaid him! Evidently, he was pretty pleased to learn that the little extra in his bank account was intentional and his to keep. But we appreciate your honesty all the same Nick!
The guys we’ve singled out in our July Awards are just three of the 300+ hardworking, honest and experienced groundworks operatives we have in our Mackoy gangs. All of who pull together, with our clients, to deliver exceptional work to the highest quality controls and on-site safety standards.
