Creating our Mackoy "day in the life" video

One of the many highlights of our new Mackoy website is the video you'll come across when you land on our homepage. Filmed at our worksites over three days the footage gives a great overview of the groundworks services we provide day-to-day at Mackoy. Helping to build up a bigger picture of the value our operatives bring to our clients' residential development sites we're a part of creating in Britain.

Despite the final cut being just shy of two and half minutes long we filmed hours' worth of raw footage over the course of our three-day stint. Taking to the ground, as well as the sky, to get the best possible look at our worksites, plant and Mackoy groundworks operatives in action. Showcasing some of the latest new machines and vans to join our vehicle fleet in 2018 as well as a few familiar faces from our groundworks gangs who were all too happy to star on screen. And what a fine job they did too.

All in all we visited seven of our live worksites within Dorset and Hampshire to film operations on the ground. This included our North Stoneham Park contract with The Highwood Group in Eastleigh, as well as our Oxlease Meadows, Luzborough, Ringwood, Whitchurch and Emsworth locations in Hampshire. While in Dorset we were on site in Ferndown where our operatives have been helping to provide the groundworks infrastructure and 278 works for new roads and homes being built by Bellway.

The finished film captures several of the core groundworks processes we undertake weekly on site for our clients. Including creating the foundations for new homes, trimming and laying pipework for essential drainage services, and the development of new roads. From the excavations to create the highway foundations, to infilling with sub-structure stone and then finally applying the asphalt surfacing.

In fact, across the course of the footage, you'll witness the key stages that go into making an entire road take shape from start to finish. As well as some of the other services we provide as part of our groundworks contracts such as laying beam and block flooring, block paving and kerb creation, and excavation earthworks. All of which go into making the homes on our clients' developments, as well as the developments themselves, complete and ready for their new owners to move in.

The edited video also brilliantly captures some of the hi-spec excavation plant we've invested in just this year at Mackoy. Including our Twaites 9-tonne and Hyundai closed cab dumper trucks, and our Hitachi excavators, just a few of the 150+ plant we own in-house at Mackoy. All of which we purchase brand new directly from the manufacturers, investing anywhere from £2-£4 million on new plant every year to refresh our fleet with the latest and safest models.

It's these high-powered machines that give us the unique capability to take on the large-scale infrastructure contracts we specialise in at Mackoy. Working as we do with some of the UK's largest and longest established house builders to develop sites just like the ones shown in our video. In fact we'll be using snippets of the additional footage we shot on site for upcoming blog posts as well as on our social media feeds. So keep an eye out for even more insight from our worksites and behind the scenes footage of our operatives in action in the weeks and months to come.
